Complete File Migration to O365

Complete File Migration to O365

Use one of the 3 options to migrate your files to O365. 

Option 1 | Drag & Drop - file modification dates will change

1.  Open File Explorer and navigate to the folder or file in FileCloudDrive (Z:)  you want to copy.

2.  Open another instance of File Explorer window to One Drive – Queen’s University.

3.  Highlight the file(s) or folder(s) within My Files in FileCloudDrive (Z:) that you want to copy, click and drag them over to the second window, and then drop them.

4.  Submit a Service Request to notify FEAS IT your file migration is complete.

Option 2 | You want to conserve file modification dates and have admin rights to your computer

Windows 10

1.  If you are using the FileCloud Drive client, proceed to Step 2. If you are using the FileCloud Sync client, skip to  to Step 5.

2.  Exit from the FileCloud Drive client. Uninstall the drive client.

3.  Install the FileCloud Sync client.

4.  Configure the sync client to only sync your MyFiles folder to your local drive.

5.  Install the SharePoint Migration Tool

6.  If your local copy is up-to-date, pause syncing in the FileCloud sync tool.

7.  Launch the SharePoint Migration Tool and sign in with your NetID credentials.

8.  Select Start New Migration

9.  Copy content from — select File share

10.  Select the folder that you MyFiles has synced to (default is c:\Users\<username>\Document\FileCloud\)

11.  Choose the Migration Only folder content radio button. Click Next.

12.  Select OneDrive as the destination.

13.  Ensure your NetID (ie. NetID@queensu.ca) is entered and select the OneDrive folder to copy everything too (the default Documents folder is right for the majority of users). Click Next.

14.  Review the migration settings. Click Next.

15.  Leave the default settings. Click Migrate.

16.  The tool will begin migrating your files.

17.  Once complete you will be prompted to save your migration — no need to do this, just click Close.

18.  Make note of the migration stats — if not all files were migrated you can click the View reports link to see a list of failed files.

19.  Complete the Service Request to notify FEAS IT that your migration is complete (you will be asked for your files and size counts so leave the migration tool up until you have completed the form)

20.  Exit the SharePoint Migration Tool

Mac OS X

There is currently no migration tool available, so please submit a Service Request to schedule a file migration with FEAS IT.

Option 3 | You want to conserve file modification dates, but don't have admin rights to your computer
