Note: This is not our recommended method of use. If you would like to install the Sync Client, please contact us

Synopsis

The cloudFiles Sync Client allows sync your files from the cloudFiles service to your computer, enabling you to work on files offline. This article provides the instructions needed to install the Sync Client on a macOS based machine. You will need Admin Rights to be able to complete the necessary steps. If you do not have the required privileges you can request the FEAS-IT group to do the install for you, using one of our communication channels.

Downloads

Instructions

If you have not already done so, use the link from the Downloads section to download the installer for the cloudFiles Sync Client (macOS).

Open up Finder to the location you downloaded the file and double click the FileCloudSync64.DMG.

To install, simply drag the filecloudsync into the supplied alias for the Applications folder.

Launch the newly installed Sync client by browsing to the Applications folder and double clicking, or by using Spotlight to find and run.  You will be presented with a configuration window.  In that window you will want to enter https://cloudfiles.engineering.queensu.ca as the Server URL.  Your NetID and related password go into the Account and Password fields.  When all the settings are configured you can click the Login button

Once you are logged in the Sync client will create a FileCloud folder in your home directory.  You will have the Sync client visible in the top menu bar (arrow) and synchronized files in the Finder.
